Failed Rubber Harvest sends Latex Prices Soaring! on Apr1 08

Reuters says: “Thailand’s rubber producers, will only bring a margin of their harvest to market this year. October rains came too late for trees in Thailand’s prime rubber-growing region to recover from the driest winter in two decades. Few of the trees have been watered properly, meaning the harvest next season will be meager, due to the lack of rubber sap. Forecasters say output in Thailand, the world’s largest producer of raw rubber, will fall to a 50-year low and as a result the price of all rubber and latex products will sky rocket.”
