www-sketchbook3xL: Tell me a little about yourself. Where are you from? What’s your educational background?

William: I’m originally from Cheshire, up North… I studied Fashion Design from age 16, before moving down to London to do a degree in Fashion at the University of Westminster.

3xL: When did you realize you wanted to become a fashion designer?

William: I wanted to be a fashion Designer from as soon as I could draw, it was the first thing I remember being really in to, clothing, costume, style, glamour, art, theatre, were all of my first interests.

3xL: Describe me your general process you go through from design to realization of a piece of clothing.

William: There’s a few different types of process I’ll go through, the best type is when I just think of something and it gets quite quickly amazing in my head, then in the gap between when I can realistically start it gets clearer and then I can’t wait to make it!

ww-fw-dress23xL: How does designing latex wear differ from designing clothes?

William: It doesn’t really, the nature of the material means it requires different technical treatments/procedures which makes designing it exciting as the results are quite special, but I apply the same designing thought process.

3xL: What do you believe gives quality to clothing?

William: I think generally speaking the quality can be reflected in the time it takes to make a garment. Including attention to detail, I think if something has been lovingly labored over then the quality is in-built.

3xL: How would you define the style your line exemplifies?

William: I want for people to look at my clothes and to immediately understand the references and the style that I love, so I delight in making that obvious and celebrating that style. It’s glamorous, dramatic, and overtly indulgent.

3xL: What matters to you most as a fashion designer?

William: Producing more collections, new work, and always aiming to achieve things that I’ve never seen before.

ww-fw-dress03xL: What are some of your fashion goals?

William: I want to be progressively more and more excited about the next collection than the last, I want to do the best that I can and make the most beautiful things that I can possibly imagine.

3xL: Where do you get your inspiration from?

William: All over the place really, there are lots of different ways that ideas will grow and change, I love themes and characters and these combine to produce collections.

3xL: Where do you see your fashion in 5 years from now?

William: I just want to be bigger and better, there are a few different directions I would like to explore, the skies the limit!
