Electric Blue Gallery plays host to a collection of new works by the hugely influential graphic artist Jasper Goodall.
Goodall rose to public attention with his style defining work for The Face magazine in 2000-2003 influencing a generation of illustrators and helping pave the way for illustration’s resurgence and reinvention in recent years. Here Goodall presents for the first time, his first solo show of personal work in a gallery environment.
Entitled ‘Poster Girl’ the images have a strong nod toward fetishism, lots of shiny rubber and gloopy gloss, and a sense of anonymity through the use of masks. Goodall explains āIām intrigued by the way people perceive the body, the way it looks wrapped in shiny rubber. The way it clings to the human form and makes people look super-real. There are all sorts of connotations and references to the subliminal of shininess and lubrication, and it all comes back to sexuality.ā
The show will run from the 6th February till the beginning of March 2009.
