Westward Ho! has got to be my favourite place name on the planet (apart from Upper Dicker, Lower Dicker and Goolie…). Firstly, it`s got an exclamation mark, and secondly, it conjures up thoughts and images of Francis Drake, kidnap, the Caribbean, the Spanish Armada, the Spanish Inquisition etc etc. Feeling a bit flushed now with all those fantasies of swash buckling hips…!
So when I came across the rubber couture designers Westward Bound I thought oooh, they must be based in Westward Ho! Wrong. They`re actually 60 miles away in Plymouth.
