Halloween is a great time to visit New York City. While it’s fetish scene has had it’s ups and downs in recent years, two things that remain constant are the world famous Greenwich Village Halloween parade (a great excuse to wear latex)…and SMack! NYC’s premiere multi-media fetish and play party. Now into it’s 11th year, the Halloween SMack! party is always a wild affair, with NYC’s most fabulous freaks and fetishists dressing their best for a night of music, mayhem and kinky madness. This year (October 27) it’s at a great, new location, Club Element, with the theme, “THE DEMONATRIX: A Halloween fetish party with a devilish twist,” featuring Maya Sintress and a host of twisted fetish performances, go-go girls, dungeon furniture and more. This one is really shaping up to be a great party.
America’s “Sin City,” Las Vegas plays host to another fetish and fantasy themed Halloween party also on October 27. Now into it’s twelfth incarnation, The Fetish & Fantasy Ball will be taking over the entire Alexis Park Hotel Resort for the sole purpose of frightening fetish frivolity. “Named one of the top 10 events in the world,” by the Travel Channel – not necessarily the authority on kink, mind you. I have heard many good things about this party and it seems to draw a big fetish and porn crowd from all over America and beyond. “As always you can count on unusual and wild, Erotic stage performances, as well as fire performers, incredible lasers and lights, world class DJ’s, a costume contest, vendors, a huge dance floor, a separate old school dance area, stilt walkers, freaks, monsters, surprises, and you in your naughtiest, scariest, sexiest, and most creative costumes. Remember you are the show, so DRESS TO THRILL…”
Rounding out our American tour of upcoming fetish events is Philadelphia’s Diabolique Ball on November 17. Philadelphia’s biggest fetish party will be held again at Shampoo, a massive space, perfect for party pervery. Sponsered by Passional, Delicious Corsets and others, the Diabolique ball is now past it’s first decade and has become one of the most anticipated fetish events on the US East Coast. I don’t have a great many details yet, but take a look at the photos from last year, courtesy of the magnanimous, Philly-based Michael Diamond from Eros Artist from last year. Best of all 100% of the proceeds from this party go towards The Childrens Crisis Treatment Center and Philly FIGHT – a local AIDS education and outreach center, so “be bad for a good cause!”
For over 15 years, Los Angeles, California based company, Syren has been a top provider of costumes to the entertainment industry (“Batman Returns,” “Mr & Mrs. Smith,” “Ugly Betty,” and others) as well as fetish couture to rubber lovers the world over.
On August 31, fetish supershop JT’s Stockroom relaunched it’s Syren latex clothing line with a new safe-for-work website, SyrenCouture.com, and a new retail store. Moving from it’s previous home in West Hollywood, to it’s new location, in the Silver Lake area of L.A., they’ve opened a studio below the company office, to better serve the needs of it’s custom clients.
“Syren Couture is a direct result of the many wonderful collaborations our design team has had with various film and video projects,’ Rochel said. ‘Not to mention the fact that this venture will provide a platform for our wildly talented designers to experiment with more nuanced fashion and haute couture designs.’ The new store will have a Syren University Carnal Knowledge Series sex-education program. Workshops will be hosted by “erotic experts” including: Nina Hartley, Violet Blue, and Midori.”

Great article from Marie Clare, surveying sex in the suburbs. There are a lot more kinky folks out there than one might think!
I simply loved the comment from a 41 year old rubberist called Tom; “Often, we’ll be watching videos on a Friday night, dressed up in all the gear, and we’ll think, ‘This is fucking weird.’ But then you think, ‘Who cares? I’m enjoying it’.”
