House of Etiquette is a new latex designer from Toronto, Canada. This stunning new women’s collection features feminine silhouettes. The beautifully designed garments reflect true expertise in latex construction and fashion styling.
They have a signature print, Tortile, which is currently available in transparent black, transparent red, and transparent purple.
The brand new website is designed for e-commerce and has a fully functional shopping cart, providing an easy shopping experience for visitors to their site.
Their debut appearance will be at Alternative Fashion Week in Toronto at the end of this month, and they have also mentioned that they will be showing at Montreal Fetish Weekend as well. The owners of the company, Ashley Davies and Matt Smart answered a few of my questions regarding their new fetish fashion latex collection.
Jade: Is there any meaning behind your name, “House of Etiquette”? Where does it originate from?
Matt: The name comes from the culture around kink and fetish. All of those scenes have a certain Etiquette that is understood by its community, so it’s a sort of homage to that. We wanted the name to reflect an elegant image and, with what we do, labeling ourselves as a fashion ‘House’ seemed appropriate.
Jade: Source(s) of inspiration for the Devotee collection? Any particular influences?
Ashley: We took our inspiration from feminine fashions and lingerie of the 40’s and 50’s. We wanted to convey that glamorous design aesthetic to our clients by styling some of the latex pieces on our website with elegant jewelry. As for influences, we both really love the fetish art of Gernot, and we collect vintage lingerie catalogs.
Jade: What does House of Etiquette have planned for the future?
Matt: For the immediate future, after we present our newest line at Toronto Alternative Fashion Week we will be designing a collection for Montreal Fetish Weekend, which is in September. We would love to show at Torture Garden in England or at any other big European fetish events. We both want to continue to blur the lines between high fashion and fetish, so we are also aiming to show at Toronto’s L’Oreal fashion week.
Jade: Will House of Etiquette focus only on women’s latex fashions?
Ashley: Yes. Right now our focus is on creating more unique pieces for Women. We both have more fun designing for women and find it offers us more choices. However, we are willing to take on custom projects; and, although our line is showcased on women, it doesn’t mean men can’t enjoy wearing any of it.
Jade: Do you offer custom design?
HOE: Absolutely, we do custom work if anyone has an idea or request they can email us at info@houseofetiquette.com. We also offer a made to measure service on our website.
I cannot wait to check out their new collection at Montreal Fetish Weekend this year!
Simon O has begun to offer printed handmade latex and it looks good! You can see a lot of new items in the Simon O online shop under the category “new designs“.
There also two new pairs of latex shorts for men in the new Leopard latex print, especially for guys who want show off their wild side. Grrr!
Many designers had incorporated printed latex in their latex clothing designs for many years, but lately more and more printed latex fabrics are showing up among the smaller designers. I think it’s a fantastic trend there brings more diversity and style in the latex fashion community.
