The metamorphosis from humanoid to insectoid may for some, exist only in a Kafkaesque nightmare of the absurd. Tres Bonjour challenge such insectophobic prejudices with their dreamscape collection “Sensation du Corps” : six latex couture outfits designed exclusively for the THIRTY ROCKS anniversary issue 2012 of TUSH Magazine. The theme : insects.
Since 2009 the Berlin fashion designers Viola Jaeger and Sandra Dresp have worked exclusively with latex. On a recent trip to Berlin I had the pleasure of meeting Viola and seeing, touching, smelling and even trying on some key pieces from this unique collection.
Viola and Sandra have successfully captured the beauty and fragility of butterflies and moths with translucent latex in delicately muted colours, contrasting with the ubiquitous black glossy latex (never have I seen black latex with such a deeply intense shine as that which hangs on the rails in the Tres Bonjour boutique). The suggestion of cocoons, gossamer wings and exoskeletons has been created with nebula-like effects using liquid latex and boning to create structure and architectural shaping.
Viola told me, “We had four weeks to create the six couture outfits so it was quite a challenge as we were working on many orders too.” Behold the magical world of metamorphosis.

Viola goes on to say, “We are the first latex brand ever to exhibit a collection at a “regular” fashion fair . Last summer we were selected by the chief editor of German VOGUE to present at VOGUE Salon in Berlin. In January we participated in the Capsule Tradeshow during Berlin Fashion Week and next week we’re going to Paris to present our upcoming collection in a multibrand showroom together with 22 of the best German fashion designers during Paris Fashion Week.
Tres Bonjour will also be flitting over to Essen for the Fetish Evolution Weekend 29 March – 2 April 2013 where you can drool over their ethereal, exquisite creations for yourself.
What an inspired and beautiful collection, truly original design and gorgeously crafted!
